Hallowed Be Thy Name Sermon Series
This series is a study on some of the most powerful statements in scripture about the name of God and how we should relate to it. We start with the phrase from Jesus’ famous prayer, “hallowed be thy name”. That word “hallowed” means to be treated differently than anything else, to be lifted higher than any other name or any other anything – to hold a special place. Timothy Keller says that the thing that we see as hallowed is the thing we get distracted by, that we daydream about. So, we are going to start the series with that and then spend each week of the series looking at reasons why His name is hallowed, how we can treat it as hallowed in our lives, and why it is worthy of our awe and attention. We will conclude each sermon by determining how Jesus advanced God’s name in the way that verse indicated.
